We came from here

The thread "Our Orchid blooms in February 2020 πŸ’•" in Orchids forum

It is March 1. and so we have a new thread for the month!
I am waiting for some buds to hurry up and open already so I have something fresh to start up the month, but no, that didn't happen! On the other hand, isn't it nice that Orchids can bloom for weeks at a time? Smiling
With that mindset - here is the Vandachostylis Prapawan now almost fully open
Thumb of 2020-03-01/Ursula/c62c9f
Dendrobium anceps is at it for at least a month, with most blooms hidden under the distichous growth and easily missed.

The spotty Cattleya aurantiaca is now also blooming from other, smaller growth, similar to Lc/Cattlianthe Rojo

Dialaelia Mizoguchi 'Princess Kiko' is still blooming from its anceps-like spike and opened a small, late spike
Thumb of 2020-03-01/Ursula/d754a1
And Epi Miura Valley is still at it
Thumb of 2020-03-01/Ursula/854b3d
and I think these little bugs on Pleurothallis /Platystele/Stelis? ornata are just the cutest.( years ago this was named Pleurothallis scheidei. )

And with that I stop! Please all join in and have fun! Smiling

New blooms opened for me while this guy was in the house the past 3 chilly days. Another spike on tap, too.

Bllra. Big Shot 'Hilo Sparkle'

My Den. anceps is blooming too and I always almost miss the flowers because they're so inconspicuous. But this year the plant has gone all yellow right about when the buds started, so I'm beginning to think I haven't been fertilizing it enough. Gave it and a few others a bath in the tub last night with fertilizer and an extra dose of Epsom salts. What do you think, folks? Is this nutrient deficiency or what?

Also having the red coloration going on big time with my large raft of 'Maybe Yellow Birds' and it got the fert and magnesium bath last night too. I'd appreciate any insight on this one, too. I've had a few leaves go red before like this but never the whole plant.

Thankfully, we have a few days of normal weather this week for them to be outside again, and hopefully I'll see some recovery.

Hey ladies!
I can see even all the way from Cincinnati just how pretty those flowers are! I have to stand on a chair and look out my motel window, but I can see them!!!
Gina has a very nice Schomburgkia there!!! Lovey dubby I just love corkscrewed flowers. Thumbs up
And Ursula, the orange form of Guarianthae aurantiaca is all I have ever managed to bloom. I had a red clone that bloomed once and promptly died. Grumbling
Stupid orchid!
Elaine, your Beallara is very pretty with nicely marked segments!

What am I doing in Cincinnati you might be wondering? On my way back from South Carolina as we put my brother in law to rest almost 10 years after his initial stroke! I still have about 3 1/2 hours to drive but my emotions need a little rest as do my eyes. Steady traffic almost all day today on I-26, I-40 and I-75.

My condolences Bill, that sounds tough! Group hug

Gina, pretty! I always love the "fried bacon"-Schomburgkias, those blooms are really neat! Nice Dendrobium there in your Jungle too!

Elaine, yes, you do have some amazing colors there, surely some extra Mg should help!

Oh Bill, so sorry for your loss. Group hug Please be extra safe on the last leg home.
Nice stuff at your house Gina...something for everyone there!
My phaius is in spike now and it would be so awesome if it opened in time for our clubs display at the Tampa Bay Orchid Society Show this weekend.

Elaine, I'm sure Epsom salts will do the trick on your crimson foliage...might take a couple applications though. Your Big Shot has pretty markings.
Ursula, you've got to be loving all that bold color in the middle of winter. Really cheery just looking at it from here.
I've got a couple of new flowers today.

Be. Duh's White ' Pink Pig' a gigantic flower on a pretty small plant. The flower is a little goofy but it's a first bloom.

This has never bloomed well and the thrips have stripped all but a couple of buds.
Ctt. Gold Digger x Lnt dulatiaca has tested negative for virus but is going in the trash anyway. There's no room for repeat poor bloomers here.

Thanks everyone! Thanks a lot.
A real blessing finally after 9 1/2 years. He was just 63!
His son just got engaged Christmas! I am standing in for my brother in law! I think my offer was well received! I would not consider a "No".

So sorry for your loss Bill. You probably had a rough ride today too, I know they had snow and ice in Asheville yesterday. Be careful on the last leg of your trip.

My condolences to you Bill. My mother in law went through the same thing, she had a series of small strokes that left her bedridden. She was with it for a long period of time, but then gradually became more and more withdrawn, She lived to be 93 years old though!

Bill, I'm sorry for your loss, but he is resting in peace now. The fear of stroke terrifies me! I don't mind the idea of dieing, but I'd prefer to go fast. Be careful on those roads! The weather has been horrible there this year!
