Some of my lankon are blooming in the rain this morning but........
they are sure nodded downwards..........
do the flowers change in the sun or as they open more........?
you have to bend down to see in the flower
most of them are a darker version of the purple spots that I can see

would love to see more of the flower so hoping the pedals will eventually turn up a bit
never planted this lily before and there are 10 plants out there..........

Pat, the flowers are always facing down in my garden and in every photo of the whole plant I seen.

Incidentally my "old" Lankon lilies have just started to flower today and I have noted much stronger purple colouration this year and it has also been much colder than last year.

a few more are opening and all have the dark purple colouration here as well. wander if that is weather related..
we had a very cooler then normal summer and spring up until the past few days here as well
they have a tiny bit of a curve to the petal but very very small
you really have to get down there to see the flower....maybe in years to come Lakon will get a bit taller then it is right now.......likely about 3 and half feet first year here

we have a humidex of 104F and that is uncalled for at this place ever.....
first time in my life I have seen that
wander how the lilies will hold up in this heat for the next couple of days

Hmm, I had to look that one up, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... . A Canadian speciality!
Those kind of temperatures aren't my cup of tea at all and unfortunately it seems all kind of weather records are made this year all over the world. Rather scary, IMHO. What is the actual air temperature as measured in the normal way?

A very tall Lankon would be extremely nice, exactly for that reason, to see that nice purple spotting. I'm thinking of moving at least a few of my Lankon bulbs this fall. The place they are growing in is a bit dry as it is located a bit too close to a large pine and I don't think they ever will be very tall there. Besides they need dividing anyway. A really high raised bed or a slope or something similar would be ideal to view them a bit easier, just in case one would fail to grow them as tall as Joe's.

Wow 6 feet................wow again
how long does that take to do that......
I have 10 Lankons out there are close to the same size
thinking of moving mine to a separate place for them...... Actually need to do a bed that is all species or crosses I think
I love the species and crosses

My trumpets are Giants this year and some of them are close to 6 feet
my OT Garden Pleasure is very tall too

Never realized Lankon could be that tall though..........would love to see a pic of that......

for now I will just crawl under the flowers....lol
these are their first year

I did notice that Woodriff is really really tall out there but not blooming yet......
