Thread OP

My boyfriend picked up paver sand instead of gravel or coarse sand to amend my soil and raise it up a few inches. It's kind of fine...With some slightly larger chunks? Anybody ever used to this for their succulent bed? I would love to avoid going to Home Depot again as this is my stay-at-home project for the next week but obviously need to do it right. Thanks so much in advance!

Right off the bat- no . The stuff has fine particles....
Unless you sift it...(trust me, not a fun prospect out of experience)...
...you may not even get a whole lot...

OK thanks so much. I figured but needed to hear it just in case somebody out there was like oh yeah I did it and it's been fine!

Coarse sand is 0.5 to 1 mm according to Wikipedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

and paver sand is 0.5 to 2 mm according to Google ("paver sand size") which also makes it coarse.

So they should be pretty interchangeable. When in doubt pass the sand over a screen (like a window screen) to remove the fines.

You can also separate fines with a rinse. Fill a bucket 1/4 to 1/3 full of the sand and then fill and overflow with water. Depending on how much you let the hose agitate you can get rid of dust or small particles.
