Hi
Gosh it's been a while since I was in here! Was an iris fanatic (still am) but now my garden is limited to indoors. So, I decided on hoyas because I have always loved them, too.

Here's my deal: ISO hoya rotundiflora. Yes, there are a couple on etsy for over $100, but that's way outside my humble budget. I am hoping someone who has it might sell me a cutting?

I only have about 17 different ones right now and most of them are too young to supply cuttings. I do have Hoya bella, but that's not a fair trade for rotundiflora. Bella is a good beginner plant. I got 4 cuttings from a friend in July 2018 and by March 2019, it was huge and blooming like crazy. It wants a good amount of light to really bloom.

Anyway, believe me, I have been searching, but aside from ordering overseas, I can't find one I can afford. (under $40)

Very excited to find all you hoya enthusiasts here! Hope to learn a lot.

Hoya rotundifolia is a synonym for Wax Plant (Hoya carnosa) one of the most common types of Hoyas around that can often be found at Home Depot, Lowes and Walmart Garden Centers during the year. Years ago I had six or seven different Hoya carnosa plants but I don't grow any Hoya carnosa nowadays. Flower color of H. carnosa can be white or pink:

*Blush* Forgive me, I misspelled the name. D'Oh! The one spelled rotundifolia is a synonym for Hoya carnosa. The amazing plant in your photo is Wax Plant (Hoya rotundiflora) which is a legitimate species name.

Is beautiful photo from Doug's Vermont Hoyas page???

Hi, Bonnie. I keep an eye out for this plant too. I have seen the ones over $100 on eBay and NO THANKS. If they can get people to spend that much for a 3-4" pot then great, I guess...but I'm with you. I keep it to $30 and I occasionally get a splurge plant here and there...birthday, holiday, tax check, a gift from a family member who's sympathetic to my Hoya/aroid addiction. Here's what I've noticed in my hunt. DJ2homegrown on Etsy gets them occasionally. I have never (obviously) bought this Hoya from her but I have bought others for fair prices and I've seen her list H. rotund. before but I don't recall the prices. If you message her, she's super friendly and often knows the dates that she'll have batches available and gladly holds plants for you. Customer service is great with her. I also follow Susan Swartzfager's KOKO ranch Hoya's and I have seen her list them before however her listings are intermittent and you need to have Facebook to get the heads up when she posts, and I don't have Facebook. She loaded new plants today (no H. Rotund.) so I'll be keeping an eye out for her to load plants again. Anyway, good luck on your hunt and post an update because I'm Hoya nosy and I like to know what's up Hilarious!

Thanks!

The photo is of my own Bella. I will look up those two on etsy.

You bet you will see if I get one!

Saw these just now. I have a very small Rotundiflora that I got from Thailand a few months ago. It hasn't decided whether it wants to grow yet. Glare

I just got one of these a few weeks ago, they're irresistible! I was going to take a picture to share and noticed I have two fuzzy leaves up top! It also has a set at soil level and what look like a new stem, which would be wonderful!
I don't remember how much this one cost but I don't think it was more than $40. I remember this came from Hawaii and it made me incredibly nervous since it was still somewhat cold here but the shipper wrapped it in a puppy pad of all things, which was a surprise- but it worked, this plant hasnt skipped a beat apparently. I left most of my hoyas in Virginia, when we pack up couple weeks ago and went home to Georgia when the governor of Virginia, ordered a lockdown. Lots of them and mostly large plants and one of them is Hoya rotundiflora plant. I hope they will stay alive till I come back there in a couple of months or till this virus go away.
