Remember how I was waiting for my brother to move here to decide what to do with the open drain in my new garden? He's here and in one day he laid drains and moved the path to on top of the drain so I have more room for plants. Mission accomplished!
Thumb of 2020-04-23/LolaTasmania/f222edBefore.
The open drain is to the right of the gate. I had put the path next to it so that the drain could be worked on but the path is now over the drain and continues to the far side so I have access to all parts of the garden without having to walk through the plants.
Thumb of 2020-04-23/LolaTasmania/198a7eAfter.
We will gravel the rest of the path today. It looks fab!

This is Boris, my new ram. He looks a bit ratty but he will clean up nicely once shorn. The girls love him just the way he is, though.

Lola, Whew how much new space.... I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you. Congrats! So many new roses... Whistling It will become a true patch of heaven. I can't wait to see it accomplished! Always willing additional help is a gift from heaven! My recognition to your brother too!
I don't know when you get the shearing done. We discovered only recently that its best for us just now in fall as we enter winter. The reason: sheep are considerably "leaner" during winter and aren't puffed up with loads of wool all around. They are kept inside the barn in the evenings all year round , so more room to access to mangers. Less water-logged during our (much needed) fall winter rains. Thus bedding is drier and less work to add dry material to our beds, always difficult to find during winter wet months. So all our boys and ladies were shorn two weeks ago. Now I've got plenty bags full, excellent lining for planting holes in ground for my bagged roses : my main rose activity of the season. Our leader ram (late) was called Memo(randum)... Big Grin Our ladies just have numbered ear tags, however each a character of their own... Lovey dubby They are almost dry by now so I'm milking just twice a week. Less milking more time to spend on roses and so many postponed garden projects... Sighing! The boys are very active these days and we are ready for next spring lambing... Crossing Fingers!

Arturo - We used to shear just before Christmas but because of the changing climate we moved it up to early November to avoid the flies. I want to have the ladies crutched and will have Boris shorn at the same time. I will ring the shearer tomorrow to see if he is available. I have been in two minds about shearing twice a year and if the shearer suggests shearing instead of crutching in autumn then I will do that from now on. My sheep live outside all year round and any sudden change to winter weather can have terrible consequences if they have no fleece.

Lola, your new garden (or should I say revised garden) looks fantastic! Beautiful! It must feel so good to get that done. Yes! Kudos to you and to your brother. I think Boris is quite the handsome ram. I am glad the ladies are liking him and hopefully you will have lots of new lambs in the spring. So, do you have any new plants that you are planning for your beds? Do you think you might put a climber in the mix of plants? Your land is so beautiful!

OK, we are getting strong winds today. They are just starting (sigh). Tomorrow it is supposed to get to 90 F. Next Wednesday we are getting to 100 F. I guess it is goodbye to spring, unfortunately and hello to summer. Ugh! It is going to be a long one.

I went and took pictures last night before mother nature has her way with my garden. I did get some pictures of the "bloom" of my Marchesa B. Tell me what you think. Is this her or not? Not the best blooms and I am not thinking this batch is going to get any better. She and I are going to have to have a heart to heart. You can see where I have taken her long canes and have placed them sideways.

Grocery Store saves--Parade roses but they were not named on their tags. They are really pretty roses planted outdoors.

To be continued as I am not sure how many pictures I can post on one post.

The deep purple iris is a re-blooming one called, "I'm Back". Gotta love the name! This one is new for me and I think I am going to love the iris as well. It is a scented one too! Extra bonus!

The rain and high wind is playing [email protected]#l with my roses, and all my other iris stems are blown over! I had to stake the earlier ones in a previous wind. Little sticks all over my yard. Being obsessive like I am, I really want to go out there and pick all those sticks up, but I'm restraining myself. The wind is supposed to continue until early tomorrow. Grumbling D'Oh!

Temps have been playing havoc with mine, Lynda. You can see on the pictures of MB and on Wedding Cake that the blooms have bullnosed. Time to cut them off and wait until it starts to bloom again. Ugh! Growing succulents and cacti instead of roses is looking better and better to me....

And this is my neighbors front entry, a bright azalea, beautiful red maple and a bed of purple iris that kind of disappear with their small size, dark color and those two showcase plants.

Summer Song is one that I have been a bit wary of because of the mixed reviews of the colour. It is available to me so perhaps I should get it to replace Radio Times which has done absolutely nothing since I planted it. I would hate SS to become suddenly unavailable to me without tying it. That nearly happened to me with Cafe which has since become a favourite.
