Ha, ha, ha, Ursula. Your sun's intensity in the winter is far different than its intensity down here.

Ken, totally! Smiling Without the glass ceiling in my greenhouse, flowering would be much curtailed in my zone, while you in Florida might wind up with crispy bacon.

Yep, I've even found that one of my newly acquired varieties of Vanda is sun-sensitive. The leaves turned purple almost over a single day. I'm still trying to find just the right amount of light for those two plants.

Wonderful show Ursula! Our maxillaria at the Botanical Garden just started last week. You have to love that fragrance...blissful days at the beach with a bottle of Hawaiian Tropic oil! I was just looking at some old photos and found this funny flashback to the past 2010...

I found it hard to believe that this first time to bloom L. colombiana x Ctt. Aussie Sunset 'Cosmic Fire' was correctly tagged but the grower assures me that it is. Both parents are in the 'Rum Punch' color palate.

Jkf, Appleblossom with a few pretty flowers.

Also blooming for the first time
( and I wish someone would register this WAY TOO LONG cross !)
Paraphalaenopsis labukensis x seidenfadenia mitrata
I think I see 4 more spikes on the way.

Here's a first time bloomer, and a bit of a change of pace from the large Cattleya's that I've got blooming. This is a typically sized Potinara flower, 3.5-4" in diameter. The plant is semi-compact in size. I don't notice any fragrance yet, but this is day one. Perhaps she'll be fragrant a bit later. I think that she's a cutie.

Some beauties today, here folks. Ken, I love the color combo on the Elegant Walker.

My Noid Onc which I've dubbed my "therapy orchid" from Trader Joe's is opening flowers daily, and they are so pretty. My little granddaughters really want to pick one off the plant, but so far we have resisted that temptation. As they get older I may relent and let them each have one.

Beautiful phals, Phil. Do they grow outdoors for you all year. Mine don't like the high temps in summer at all.

On the little girls vs. orchids front, I'm worried we'd have a precedent started, and two orchids - one for each girl - every day would have the plant used up fast. Maybe for a special occasion, like Easter, we will indulge them.

Thank y'all. You just about had me there, Bill. Someone on FB asked for photos done with more light. That's why I redid the photos, adding them to the new bloomers.
