Carol, that's an amazing thing, "waiting for the rain to stop " in Southern California. Glad you are getting some good rain. We're getting very short, miserly showers here in Utah, and I'm sure missing the Florida humidity.

Such beauties, Ken.

Yeah, It's unusual for us, but this storm is moving sloooow. Still raining, not hard but steady, and not likely to quit before tomorrow afternoon.. It's a bit eyrie looking out the window and not a creature stirring except the hummers. None of the after work cars going by, no mail yet... kind of spooky. Whistling

Rain? What is that of which you speak? We sure have not seen any of that around here.

We've only had that single rain event last Sunday evening, the first in 5 wks. There was only a trace of rain the entire month of March, 0.02". That was probably due to heavy dew. Whistling That was a record of "no" rain.

We may get some rain late this afternoon, 50-50. We certainly could use it.

Yeah, those darn Californians hogging all the rain . . . We got some fairly good rain in Sarasota a week ago according to my husband. Since then, nothing at all, I don't think.

He sent me pictures of my orchids, finally yesterday and they're all from 12 ft. away, so I can tell there ARE orchids in the pictures but I can't see the flowers at all. Typical engineer. I will get him trained by the time I finally get home.

Just had a brief sprinkle here, Elaine. We have a 50-50 chance of measurable rain this afternoon. We need it.

Hey! It was our turn! I got 1.20" in the last 24 hr. Looks like just scattered showers for the rest of the day. " March winds and April showers" are S.O.P here. Then we get " May gray and June gloom" before summer arrives.

I'm SO ready for rain, the sky's have been teasing us , but morning dew is all we've gotten here just north of Tampa.

Meanwhile this little one has started opening.
Vanda miniata. I was able to get the neem on it before the thrips sucked it dry.

Alice, CVS had them. My local CVS has the distancing well worked out with plexiglass shields and extra tables of sorts between customer and cashier, and lines on the floor. And I can pay with my Apple watch, so nobody has to touch money! To me that is a bonus!

There is still so much kindness in our world, even with all the health issues going on worldwide. I've had two people mail me TP, just in case I couldn't easily find any. Now, two ladies, in the last several days, have offered to bring us groceries, so that I wouldn't have to go out. These are two complete strangers, mind you, ladies that were coming to the house to pickup up some plants. My heart is gladdened to have this outpouring of concern for Kathy and I. Happy Easter Sunday everyone.

This is one we sure will remember.
A few things have opened on the bench today, and A LOT of thrip damages on my next round of blooms.

Gct. Henry Wan just about completely opened. This started last month!

First time to bloom on this Myc. Suncoast Pink Passion. I have another one of these a year older and it looks totally different

It's in bud now so it will be fun to see them side by side.

And every year in May , our orchid club gives all members a free gift plant
Last year we got NOID Phals from a grower transitioning to marijuana. Blinking
This year, I'm getting to pick the plants and we will be getting them from Jim Roberts at Florida SunCoast Orchids . He does a lot of interesting breeding and wins a lot of AOS awards. He's also a terrific guy, and I like to support that!

Happy Easter everyone.

People really are kind and they have come out of the woodwork around here. We have found bags of groceries with things like soup and TP on our front porch. A young (50ish) fellow from the neighborhood stops by every few days to ask if he can do anything for us. We really have not minded staying home. I remember a quote, I forget who to attribute it to. "When the world wearies, there is always the garden." Aren't we fortunate to have our gardens.

I love these terrestrials, my 'George's Gold' did not bloom this year, it was too young but I put it in the ground and it has tripled in size in just about 6 weeks. po
