This 3 month old seedling appears to be multiplying. It's the only seed that sprouted for me out of this cross. I admit that it has been stressed by spider mites. FYI Never bring rose cuttings into your greenhouse. Spider mites are almost impossible to control.

Has anyone experienced this before and what was the outcome?

I would think that if it is the only seed that sprouted out of the cross and if it appears to be multiplying that would indicate that it is a strong little seedling ready to get growing. So to me that sounds like a good thing.

Some of the seedlings I planted in Sept have 4-5 fans now, some have scapes and will bloom this month.

What is the third structure between and behind the two fans that looks like a cut off scape?

@ShakespearesGarden Yes, it is. Thank you.

In this case the pattern of the new fans suggests to me that the original fan may have died and instead of one fan replacing it, two have. That is a bit unusual but it may have been caused by the spider mites.

Fred Manning, what's in your water? That's amazing.

Sue, The third structure is a leaf stump.

I live on the Alabama Gulf Coast with very little winter weather. This seedling was planted Sept. 3rd and is now four or five fans.
