Yes, we cried when they destroyed it, so sad. That little park is called Pappy Elkins and has many wild native plants in it. Plus a small lake and woods. Here is part of the lake with some geese and ducks.

There was this mini-lake (too big to be a pond, but too small to be a lake) in Sacramento that had hundreds of geese and over 20 different types of birds that would visit. There were these geese that were a little bit taller than my youngest and they attacked him đŸ˜¬

The geese would let you walk by, even brushing up against their feathers. We didn't do that though, because they were giving us some evil glares and I thought they were just about to attack this one kid who pet a goose.

Some thoughts on wildflowers.

I really like the native flowers I see on the walks we take. The varieties change over the course of the seasons.

Last year I found some very nice wildflowers I thought about gathering some seed and planting them. After contacting our state department of agriculture they were considered a noxious weed. We have a lot of Scotch Broom in our area so I try to be sensitive to invasive species and not make the problem worse.

On the upside they will send out packets of wildflower and bee supportive wildflowers.

I expect many other states have similar programs.

I have gotten some nice wildflowers from the local park system.
In the spring they sell seedlings(plugs) of local wildflowers , they have a greenhouse and start thousands for the park they are a prairie restoration park.

The mountain mint ,red lobelia , and a special coneflower are all part of my gardens due to their efforts.

As some of you might know, we've just moved from CA to SD and I've seen some wonderful wildflowers. The prettiest ones I've seen so far have been the pansies. I tried to get some pictures before the snow, but unfortunately I didn't. Hopefully next year they'll come back though (which I have no doubt they will).
