Berry is small and dried up due to the winter. Found on a dead plant in Michigan, around 1.5 feet tall.

Berry seems to have dark purple, almost black skin, and green flesh on the inside. All berries have an almost star-shaped crack on the bottom of them.

Berry has a single, very tough round seed in it, slightly larger than a radish seed.

My first thought was that it was a wild blueberry, but as far as I know, those tend to have multiple, smaller seeds. Any idea what it might be?

Is there more/better information I can provide? I can take pictures of the dead portion that I took (after I removed the berries).

I'm also trying to grow the seeds to see if I can determine it from that, but obviously that might take a while Sticking tongue out

None of the berries were touching, but there were a lot. On that portion I took/pictured, there were around ten berries.

Residential, near the edge of a house. The house has been abandoned for a while so I'm not sure if it's a wild plant that ended up there.

I'm not sure how many branches were coming from the ground, but I think it was just one?

Were the berries hanging below the branch or on top?

I have ruled out Ninebark and chokeberry because of the seed ...single / shape

I think both? The most memorable thing about the berry placement was that there were also berries at the end of the "spikes" on the piece I took, which I thought was odd.
