Hello, I bought 3 rhizomes last year but it was to late to plant them. I stored them with my other bulbs and now am ready to start. I am potting them as I rent. Is that acceptable for them? Also it does look like they became a bit musty between the leaves. No bad spots but I'm wondering about the bleach bath I've heard about. And finally, will they bloom this year? There are no fresh roots and the leaves are dry.. any info is very appreciated!! Thank you. ![]() |

You have them so plant them. I will be surprised if they make it . If they do it will be at least 2 years before you will see any bloom Welcome to the iris forum. Paul Smith Pleasant Grove, Utah |

You might soak them over night before potting them, but they look pretty far gone. Give them a try, one never knows. Voltaire: "Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities," |

They look severely dehydrated indeed. You'll be lucky if they take, but there's no harm in trying. A pot will do fine for a few years, but make sure the mix is well drained and place them in baking hot sun if they've started growing |
I'm afraid they are probably past saving, although the one in the bottom left of the photo might have a chance. 'Mariposa Skies' looks like it's a goner. Thank you all for your input. I thought I may be out of luck.. this one looks like it's trying to grow some roots so I thought maybe... what do you think? Am I crazy? Hahaha. ![]() |
I can see a few root growths, so that one may yet survive. Most have already spoken. They may not survive, but who knows. Irises are tough little plants, so maybe they could. Good luck with them. Even if they don't survive, you can always get replacements, because the few you have here I see are very popular plants. SDB Stop and Stare |

Yes. I do alot of reading and research on any new plant or flower I take on. Most of the time I get the info I need but in this case I really wanted to talk to someone. I couldn't find anything on line etc. I'll be asking about my dahlias next lol! Have been doing them for years but am stumped by their behavior. That's why I believe I'm hooked on this site. I can actually talk to people with knowledge! . Thanks so much! |
