I would be planting abou 6 feet from the tree trunk.

What kind of juniper is it? Can you show us a picture? Strawberries are sun loving, so if it is shadowed they might not crop well.

The strawberry plants would go along the stone retaining wall. It gets morning sun and filtered afternoon sun.

Yes, I think strawberries will grow there. My biggest concern would be competition for water and nutrients with the lawn because they will be up against the wall (with the wall on one side they would get less of everything). Were you going to put them in their own bed along the wall?

I'm planning to clear about 2 ft wide and put in compost and fertilizer.
