Hello, I was just wondering about some topiary things. I wanted to make topiary lettered to spell "JOY" nothing large. I was thinking of using boxwoods. What would be the best way to start? Would there be a better plant to use that's easier to manipulate/shape? Wire frame? I really want to get into this just never done topiary stuff other than bonsaiing before. Thank you!

I would use a vine. Like ivy, mandevilla, grapes (bend when very young), clematis.... Pick one that suits the climate and has nice flexible stems that can be wrapped around a form of some sort.

Boxwood is doable, but tough because you would need to convince it to grown in the correct direction with pruning and plants don't always cooperate that way.
