We came from here
The thread "Our Orchid blooms in April 2020" in Orchids forum

Today we have May 1. and with that we start a new thread for the month.
Around here the Guarianthe skinneri albescens v. occulata 'Debbie' is still putting on a show along with Cattleya Irene Finney. 'Springs Best' opened this week and so did all three spikes of 'Ingrid'.

'Springs Best'

here are both Irene Finneys

and with 'Ingrid' turned around to show the next 2 spikes and 'Springs Best' again in front
Thumb of 2020-05-01/Ursula/1fec1a
and one more 'Ingrid' pic

Magnificent, Ursula. What a show of elegant floof on the 'Ingrid' with the delicate picotee edge.

My blooming has slowed, but here's a nice one that opened this week. Large, fragrant flowers.

That SunCoast 'Pink Passion' is lovely. If you come across another one, I'm interested.

Glenn, perhaps I date myself, but these corsage orchids were a must for moms, for wives, and for dates when there was a special occasion. I guess those "special" flowers are a thing of the past. But for me at least, and perhaps that's because I was part of that era, these orchid flowers are still special to me.

Gina, that's an absolutely adorable little pink Vanda?...love it!
Jim, I actually have 3 of the Suncoast Pink Passion, but the 3rd hasn't bloomed yet.
It's hard to tell they are even related the 2 sibs are so different. There's a photo of the 2 of them on page 10 of last months bloom thread.
Ken, your Norman's Bay is a classic corsage flower...what a beauty! Lovey dubby

When I was a child, I would buy (out of my allowance) a Cymbidium Corsage for Mother's Day.. B4 I became interested in growing Orchids. You're right.. that era is sadly over.

Proms too. The problem was if you were wearing an orchid you could not snuggle up to your date or your corsage would get squished. Whistling

Perhaps that's why I love those big flowers. I'm old-school, growing up in those "corsage days". Whistling

I grew up in 'corsage days' too. I think I got my first one at an 8th grade dance. It was a wrist corsage.
