hello,

I'm stumped here so I thought I'd ask someone else.

One night around 3am I went to the bathroom. Noticed something in my sink. Turned on the light to find....a plant growing from the drain. I live on the second floor and I don't have houseplants. I've lived here for 8 months. We have two bathrooms so I let it grow until I thought it could survive transplant and moved it to...well the only container I had without the ability to leave and go to the store.

I know very little about plants so....any ideas?

Welcome!

wow ...never knew a plant could do that ...but hey, enough light, moisture & nutrients ... anything could happen

might be wrong ...but it looks like something from the gourd family ....like: Zucchini, squash, pumpkin, cucumber, watermelon or cantaloupe

have you consumed any of those recently ??

You grew a bean plant. Smiling

My first thought was also that a bean got stuck in the drain and germinated. How cool! Thumbs up

How could a bean seed get in her sink? Are there any kids in the household?

I didn't know they could either 😂 I was half awake and thought I was dreaming. Woke up the next morning and it was still there.
I have not. At least, not in my bathroom, it's technically the guest bathroom so it's not even used that often.

Nope. Just me, my fiance, and a couple puppers.

I guess a bean makes more sense, we go through a lot around here. I still have no idea how it got in the bathroom sink! It was definitely a surprise. Thank you for helping me figure out my little mystery. It has been a source of entertainment around here during quarantine.

I had a tomato seed grow in the sink where I worked... I just left it there to see how long it lasted. It was more than a month as I recall. Everyone thought it was pretty funny.

LOL, well, I missed the part that said it was the bathroom sink. How close is the kitchen to the bathroom? I wonder if somehow beans were being washed in the kitchen sink and one traveled through the pipe and ended up in the drain of the bathroom sink? Shrug!
