I have a 3 yr old Bloodgood Maple which all of sudden began blooming these tiny red leaves along with the larger leaves. I've never seen this before and can't find anything in my research about them. Do you know what they are? Please see attached picture. Thanks in advance!

Those little wing-things are seeds. Soon, you will be the proud parent of millions of little Japanese Maples. Smiling
