Thread OP
Hi all

I've had this devils ivy for over a year or so now. Its had good growth and I was just about to purchase a new moss pole for it as its grown so much but I noticed this morning these big blobs on the stems? It's not on every stem but two or three in particular have lots. Theh look like shells almost or small snails but they do not move, I thought maybe it was shoots or something growing out of the stems? Anyone know what this is please. My other plants near it are not affected. I have not attempted to touch whatever it is yet though. Thanks! Jen

Welcome! Jen!

Those are not bugs, they're roots! The ones that touch soil become nutrient absorbing and the ones that touch a drier surface become "holdfast" roots that cling and support the stems. Ain't nature grand!

Happy plant parenting!
