Hello everyone! I'm new to strelitzia care so I would like to consult with more experienced people here)

My strelitzia recently released a new leaf but already for 2 weeks this leaf is twisted. I wonder if I should open it with hands or just leave it as it is and wait till plant will open it by itself?

I will be very grateful for any advice!

If a Strelitzia leaf gets stuck and doesn't unfurl slowly all the way, it is usually an indication that the soil has gotten goo dry. Based on the reservoir indicator, it looks like it is ready for a refill.

Hello, Will! Thank you very much for your reply.

I put my finger inside the soil and it feels wet enough. I'm afraid if I will add more water the roots will begin to rot. Also, I spray plants with water every morning and evening to avoid dryness.

By the way, I have another strelitzia with the same soil quality, and its leaf almost unfurled. I will add a pic of it here.

I wonder what I'm doing wrong =)

This is how strelitzia looks like after a night. The leaf still not unfurled and its stem is getting a bit longer

Welcome! Anya. Your plant has been put in a self-watering planter that should make watering eaiser, more reliable, and pereserve your fingernails! As soon as the indicator drops down to the lowest red line, it is time to pout water into the reservoir until the indicator reaches the top red line.

When set up properly, it is a very reliable way to water and takes the guesswork out of it.

Leaves often take a week or more to unfurl, so I think yours are fine. Make sure to keep them close to a sunny window.

I read that Covid has spread seriously in your are. Stay protected and safe!
