Hi,
My lawn is full of this particular type of weed that shoots above the grass and I am not sure what it is, reasearching around looks like nutsedge but I am not sure. This is in North East Ohio

It definitely looks like the dreaded nutsedge with that small tuber/bulb at the base.

Definitely NOT nutsedge —nutsedge leaves are not on a stem and grow in a "triangle".

Hmm, how long has it been there? If it hasn't had time to grow it's foxtails yet, it might be some type of foxtail weed.

Also, it looks like you mowed it, did you? Because if you did you may have cut off the foxtails, and that's why it doesn't show them.

The red stem kind of makes me think of maybe mouse barley?

I just checked outside at my mouse barley...definitely looks like a match...

Did they ever have these prickly things on them? (In the picture)
