Hello,

This plant was gifted to me from a friend, and I would love to identify it and figure out how best to care for it! She mentioned it being a type of orchid, but I haven't had any luck in internet searches.

It flowered earlier this fall, and was so beautiful!

I welcome any information.

Thanks!

It is a jewel orchid Ludisia discolor.
They do very well as houseplants in a bright spot. The bright light brings out the markings in the leaves. When the light gets dimmer, the leaves get darker and the markings disappear.

There are several species of jewel orchids. Yours is the most common.
These like to be moist, never drying out. They do very well in a mix of 50% potting soil and 50% peat moss.
