Thread OP
I recently purchased a philodendron micans. When I opened it up I saw a few weird spots but didn't think much of them. But the new growth seems diseased and I don't know what it is! Fungus, virus, bacteria, pests?

Worse of all I think it's spreading to the nearby plants
This is a new leaf on my philodendron brasil (this has not happened ever before on any other leaves on this plant)

The spots in the photos do not have the same characteristics so it is unlikely to be a disease of any kind. Leaf spots are generic symptoms with several possible causes. Even slightly less than perfect watering can cause some leaf spotting.

Hi Rori,
I also grow both of these types of plants in my home, and both of mine have some leaves that look like yours.

On the Brazil, and the second photo of your Micans - those are what new growth look like on my plants as well.

Thank you both for answering!
I'm very relieved to hear that it's all normal Grin

If it's not normal, I've got what you've got but the plants are thriving! I do occasionally go too long between waterings.
