Trying to get a positive ID on this guy - I bought this plant from a farmers market last summer and it was mostly red. foliage has changed color since then to what is shown in the picture (taken yesterday). It's struggling a little bit, so I'm trying to ID it so I can provide the right conditions. Thanks!

As Stefan said its a Cryptanthus Bromeliad or Earth Star or red star
I think needs more sun, mine was like that on the shade, I moved to get more sun and now is red. They are easy to care
Earth Star (Cryptanthus 'Red Star')

I also agree, a variety of Earth Star (Cryptanthus bivittatus) but I don't know how you can be certain that it's the cultivar named 'Red Star'.

It could be Cryptanthus "Cascade". Mine look like that now, but can get very red.

Earth Star is the common name for Cryptanthus and there are a lot of named cultivars. 'Red Star' is a cultivar name, like 'Elaine', 'Ruby', 'Betty', 'Ruby Red', etc. We have lots of species and cultivars listed here in our database. Some of them get such pretty coloration! I'd love to find the one named 'Elaine', it is really beautiful! https://garden.org/plants/sear...
