Hello
I hope someone can help save my beautiful magnolia tree from being removed.
We have ground elder, so are creating a raised bed and laying down membrane to try to stop it growing. The Magnolia tree is in the middle of the bed and I want to see if I can place the membrane around it sufficiently, taping up as many gaps as possible. If this will just create an easy access for the ground elder to return, I fear the tree will have to go. I am very upset about this as the tree is so beautiful and provides a natural screen from neighbours.. The tree is about 15 years old and 8ft tall.
I would very much appreciate anyones thoughts on this.
I'd be so upset if the tree was cut down, especially now as the birds love it and there was another option.
Many thanks.

Tell him not to use landscaping fabric around the tree or anywhere for that matter, because it doesn't work and is a waste of money and time. You can't stop weeds or any kind of underground growth with fabric. I have worked on many jobs where the customer asked me to use it and I used it , and I have learned over the past 25 years it doesn't work.
NOT A EXPERT! Just a grow worm! I never met a plant I didn’t love.✌
