I hope someone can help save my beautiful magnolia tree from being removed.
We have ground elder, so are creating a raised bed and laying down membrane to try to stop it growing. The Magnolia tree is in the middle of the bed and I want to see if I can place the membrane around it sufficiently, taping up as many gaps as possible. If this will just create an easy access for the ground elder to return, I fear the tree will have to go. I am very upset about this as the tree is so beautiful and provides a natural screen from neighbours.. The tree is about 15 years old and 8ft tall.
I would very much appreciate anyones thoughts on this.
I'd be so upset if the tree was cut down, especially now as the birds love it and there was another option.

|Tell him not to use landscaping fabric around the tree or anywhere for that matter, because it doesn't work and is a waste of money and time. You can't stop weeds or any kind of underground growth with fabric. I have worked on many jobs where the customer asked me to use it and I used it , and I have learned over the past 25 years it doesn't work.
NOT A EXPERT! Just a grow worm! I never met a plant I didn’t love.✌
