I took over this plant from my mother but I don't know what it is. Which means I don't know how to take care of it.

It looks like either Parlor Palm (Chamaedorea elegans) or Cat Palm (Chamaedorea cataractarum)

The Parlor Palm (C. elegans) is a single trunk palm but many nurseries plant a few of them closely together in a single pot for a fuller appearance.

The Cat Palm is a clump forming palm.

The one I've seen for sale most often at garden centers over the years is the Parlor Palm.

Thanks. I took it over from my mom cause she was gonna throw it out because some leaves are brown on the tips. I caught it just in time because he didn't need to be trashed! Now I know what it is, I gotta find out how to take care of it

It's a shade loving palm so don't subject it to any direct sun, try to keep the soil moist but not soggy-wet and it should do well. I have one that stays outside year round and the leaves sometimes get ratty looking from lack of care and wind, etc. I just snip off the ugly looking leaves.

If you click on the blue links in my earlier post, it will take you to the plant in our database where you can view other member photos and growing information.
