I have a whole bunch of tropicals: canna, caladium, colocasia, and begonia that I started in pots inside to get a jump on the season.

Dover likes to play with his tennis ball inside, tossing it in the air, and occasionally it will land in one of the pots, and of corse I check for damage and give him back his ball. (Those of you with smart mischievous dogs know where this story is going.)

This morning he jumped up on a cedar chest, ball in mouth, waited for me to make eye contact, then walked over to the end and dropped his tennis ball into a pot of Canna lilies. Then he turned around and looked back at me tail wagging... like "go get it mommy... get the ball..get the ball! Good girl! ". He figured out if he drops his ball into my plants, I'll throw it for him.

I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White

No, you're giving me too much credit...
he's also very good at catch, where he lays down at the stair landing with the ball on his paws waiting for me to walk by on the first level, then pushing the ball down the stairs, where I catch it and throw it back up. He catches it and drops it back down the stairs. Dover 2, mommy 0.

His Brother Bully will flip the toilet seat so it bangs when his water bowl needs fresh water.. Dover has droopy jewels so tends to leave food crumbs in the water, and Bull will not put up with that. So Bull bangs the toilet seat... like "what do I need to do to get clean water around here!"

They have me pretty well trained.
