Hi, I've just got this stem from a friend but he wasn't able to name the species. It looks to me like one of the epifitic cacti, but I am not sure...

Please let me know if you have any idea of what species it may be.
Also, I wonder if I made it right in order to propagate it. I have just put it in a regular potting mix and keep it moist but not soggy.

Questions: was it from a grown plant or seedling? My guess is that its likely some type of selenicereus, but it could be one of the cereoid rhipsalis...

Oneeyeluke, thank you for your suggestion, but I am not sure this is a finger cactus. Upon further investigation I discovered that the stem comes from a trailing/hanging plant.

Skopjecollection, it's a part of a grown plant which was accidentaly broken. Selenicereus sounds plausible to me. Do you think there is chance it is going to root?

Selenicereus has a decent chance to root if all procedures are followed properly..
But if it is an adult..has it ever bloomed? That should be more of a telltale sign than anything else..
