I used to grow barberries and they are very pretty, but I've ripped them all out. I believe they are now classified as invasive. Can anyone else back me up on that?

I have several in my yard. None have ever spread although they do have seeds - maybe the birds eat them? The information also says they grow to 6 feet. Mine are about two feet tall and have never attempted to grow bigger. Maybe in a different (warmer) climate?
