Are lights on 24 hours? Plants need a rest too. Make it 16 on and 8 off.
I know this is an older post but it is the first reference pertaining to required
light cycle specifically for growing lettuces ID that I found in my search.
New member, 1st. post
I just now created an account to address this directly.
Hopefully, there may soon be an opportunity to now expand this conversation
between two (hopefully more!) new acquaintances
I too am ready to begin ID lettuces. Discovering the best light cycle over the webs
has been challenging. So glad I found this site and specifically this thread.
I have rounded up supplies, have my soil, lighting units etc., etc. and will be getting
flats filled/ seeds ready today. Just need to get the lighting all figured out.
I also grow other green plants indoors and, in the same area where I'd like
to grow the lettuces. Space is limited here so, gotta make do as well as possible.
My Q? is:
Is the 16/8 light cycle set in 'stone' so to speak?
Most of what I grow is under an 18/6 cycle.
Will the lettuces grow well under the 18/6 cycle?
Now that we're here, I realize I do have a few more questions haha.
Also; what spectrum of lamps are best for the lettuces?
Best lamp height from the top of plants?
Do they grow better w/ slight air movement (fan) after seedling stage?
Thanks in advance for any further knowledge that may be imparted upon this
lettuce noob :)
Sorry to the OP if I am derailing the thread.
Finding this thread was a welcome find indeed!
If there are others seeking and having difficulty wading through so much info
on the nets w/ out easily discovering this basic information, just as I now have,
maybe this thread will be found helpful to those folks also :)
