Thread OP
Hello. I am very new at gardening. I bought a Schefflera arboricola "Gold Capella" from Lowe's two months ago. The first month it was doing well. It gets medium to bright light, but no direct sunlight. Recently I found that some of the variegated leaves are turning brown from the middle. It starts as a small brown spot in the yellow part of the leaf and then it spreads within a day or two. Eventually the brown leaves are falling everyday. I have noticed that only the variegated leaves are getting these spots. Green leaves are not affected. I have checked every single leaf and even underneath the leaves for any pest or bug, but I couldn't find any. I am watering the plant when the topsoil is dry and drain the excess water. Can you please tell me what am I doing wrong? Should I repot the plant? It seems like it is not rootbound yet. I was very excited for my very first big plant and when everyday it is loosing leaves, it breaks my heart. So any kind of help and suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Please post a photo that shows the entire plant and its pot.

How deep into the soil does it get dry before you water? About how often is that?

How far is it from the nearest window?

Hi. I was wondering if it was shared what the problem is? I am having the same issue with my plant, also purchased from Lowes.
Black spot start small by the next day they have grown a lot, almost like black mold spreading on the leaves? It's not sticky or anything. Mine sits at a SE window, currently still in it's 10" nursery pot (bought it 3 weeks ago). Watering 1/week depending on top soil being dry (1-2 inches in), till water comes out holes and I don't let it sit in excess water. Thanking you in advance! Thank You!
