I have many banana plants of various kinds (I don't know what is what). I live in Southwest Florida, and last week I moved four of my plants from the screened-in lanai to outside. Since then, all four of them have gotten sick, showing over the last few days. The first sign of this disease is on the new leaf growth, which turns brown and withers, then the death and discoloration spreads out to the leaves. All of my other plants, which have remained on the lanai, are healthy--just like these four were two weeks ago.
I have seen this happen once on one of my plants, during summer last year. I was eventually able to save it with massive amounts of Draconicide, given daily for probably two weeks. At the first sign of this a few days ago, I began the application of fungicide, but it doesn't seem to be helping.
Any help in identifying the disease, and providing any suggestions on how to combat this (and hopefully save these plants), would be most greatly appreciated.
(Note: the white coloration on the plants is the fungicide, not the disease.)
Thank you in advance!
