Three peonies had been growing in-ground for two to three years... but had never lived up to my hope for them. So, in October of last year, these peonies were dug and potted in 14-16 inch pots filled with very good quality soil mix. They were placed in the sun on the edge of a south-facing covered patio and left for the winter... except to water them during dry periods.
The Dutch Iris were ordered from Von Engelen last summer.
The 'Purple Sensation' Allium were an impulse buy at the check-out stand at the nursery.
The Iris and Allium were planted in mixed groups in several locations in the two shade tree beds and the foundation beds.
The Peony was serendipitously placed next to one of those mixed groups very early this spring.
I'll try to PLAN it out that way for next spring.
