Thread OP
Sydney, NSW, Australia
I thought I was growing turmeric (transplanted from a decreased relative's garden).
But it's pinky red, whitish inside, and doesn't really smell much. Is it galangal?
Can anyone help me?
Thanks very much

It does look like galangal. You might take a snip and lick it to check the flavor and scent.
Galangal is an important ingredient for Thai tom yum Koong - i.e. spicy shrimp soup. Smiling
