Scale insects are common on Staghorn, but spider mites are not. Please post a photo that shows the entire plant and another that shows the suspected mites.

The pictures of the dead staghorn and 1 elkhorn. These 2 ferns were first to die firstly they had scale black spots so I treated that with white oil. Both the ferns died. . I don't think the scale completely killed the ferns but something did.
1 pick has tiny little holes in the cover also has a bit of scale. Reluctant to use white oil again as I don't think it helped my two dead ferns.

2 pick mostly scale
What does spider mite look like? These ferns seem to be very hardy but unfortunately I still seem to be able to kill them.

I cannot see either scale or spider mites in the pg=hotos you posted. The brown frond patches are more likely caused by the roots getting too dry, sun scorch, or mishandling, but not scale.

Oil sprays are not recommended for Ferns of any kind.
