Thread OP

I've noticed that something has been eating the leaves on my pineapple guava tree. I could never find caterpillars on the tree during the day, so I finally went out at night in the dark and found a bunch of beetles eating away.

The photo quality isn't great because of the lighting, but does anyone recognize the type of beetle (brown? bronze? I'm in Los Angeles if that helps) or have suggestions on how to protect my tree?
