Any idea what plant this is? It randomly sprouted next to my jalapeno plant and I'm not sure if I should pluck it

As a guess, it looks like a little tree of some sort. It will be easier to ID when the leaves open more.

I'm torn between Oak tree and Avocado tree. Leaves will help but, it will outgrow that pepper plant very quickly.

I'm leaning towards avocado. Did you use homemade compost in your pot?

I can go along with a tree, but it would be hard to miss an avocado seed when filling the pot. I had one that rooted at the top of the tree, but the seed was still attached.

I do compost all the time.. but because of the size of the Avocado seed I think I would have seen it... I just am hesitant to let it grow since that pepper plant yields dozens if Jalapenos every year.. I'll check back in in a month and make sure to show you guys an update. =]

Show us as soon as the leaves are big enough to recognize if you decide to leave it that long.

You guys are so smart.. it was an avocado plant.. it was getting really big so I uprooted it and sure enough it was sprouted avocado.. I don't know how much of the roots I killed or if it's salvageable but it has a long thick root going down the center so I put it in another pot.. any suggestions?

Just keep it watered and a little more shady for a week or two until it's re-established
