Every day when I leave the house I make it a point to drive by Mary's home. It is only a few blocks from my own home and garden and it is a treat each day to see what is blooming. It starts in early spring with a large planting of many cultivars of Daffodils, Tulips and Hyacinth. Next to bloom are large clumps of iris and other perennials, shrubs and small trees. Daylilys are showing stalks so another show will be coming. Believe it or not, this garden is only two years old. Enjoy the garden of NGA member Mary Durtschi.......

We had a punishing wind storm last night. I am almost afraid to go out to the garden this morning.

The storm did less major damage than I expected. One of our annual shows would have been this weekend but we canceled it and there wouldn't have been any show quality stalks today anyway. We did get some needed rain. I drove by Mary's this morning and it still looks quite pretty from the road but I'm certain closer inspection would show damage. Glad I live where there aren't any Hurricanes..........
