There isn't a dedicated chrysanthemum forum so I was wondering if any one on here grows exhibition type mums? I'm trying my hand this year (not intending to compete, purely for my own pleasure).

I have
Bola de oro
Nightingale
Diane Stokes
Paintbox

Just got them in the ground yesterday after 3 weeks in pots.

Have you ever been to the Chrysanthemum festival at Longwood? https://longwoodgardens.org/ev...
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

I've only been to Longwood once but not for the Chrysanthemums unfortunately. Do you grow any?

There is a member FrankRichards16 who had a nice thread (2018) on all the different kinds of chrysanthemums he grows.
The thread "Hardy Garden Mums" in All Things Gardening forum
