Location: Willamette Valley. Salem, Oregon
My avalanch clematis blooms beautifully in the spring. I so enjoy it.
After the petals have fallen, the petal turns into white fuzz ball. Much like a dandelion when it turns after flowering.
I have not been able tofind an explanation as to why. It looks pretty cool at the time but then the fuzz balls eventually fall and float around much like cotton trees.

Welcome! not to worry! What I'm thinking you are seeing is the seed pods. Many clematis produce these fuzzy looking things.

That's a simply gorgeous clematis, I'm jealous! I'm going to go out and take a pic of those fuzzy things on mine. I'll be back with a pic.

It will be a month or so but i will post a photo when it turns into a fuzz ball.
