What animal would eat gazania and osteospermum right down to the dirt? Happened overnight. I'm stumped!

I would say yes to possibly both. I used to have problems with rabbits eating my dahlias in the night. Hot pepper spray took care of them. I don't know if this works for deer. I've heard of some folks having success hanging bars of Irish Spring soap around the garden. Deer seem to hate the smell. And some folks scatter human hair around the garden.
Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.
