Hi everyone,

Before I rip all of these out of the ground, can someone please help me ID them? They're all over the place (i.e., they've self seeded) and if they're beneficial or beautiful, I prefer to leave them in. However, if they're nutrition suckers, I'd rather remove them.

Thank You!

The foliage and structure remind me of this, but just a wild guess.

Thank you, and wouldn't that be lovely! I have had a few of these in the past so it would make sense. But the foliage seems a little different so the search is still on.

Good ! Like I said, this was just a guess and I'm probably 100% wrong ! lol
I agree that the foliage seems "off".

Well, you might not be wrong...I've decided to let most of them grow and see what happens. They're also supposed to bloom in the spring so if you're right, I should see some flowers soon and then we'll know.

So, this is what they look like today. They are about 6 or 7 inches tall, and so far, are showing no signs of flowering.

Could it be this: Bidens ferulifolia
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

Hey! We're supposed to be non-political here! Hilarious!

It looks like it might be something similar, maybe a bur marigold? Grrrr, why is it taking so long to flower!!!????

Well, it shouldn't be long now. This morning's growth includes emerging buds so I should have some flowers within a few days. Then we should be able to ID this thing!

Oh, well, the flower buds have given it away. It's Queen Anne's Thimbles! Someone had introduced me to it last year when it first showed up in my tiny garden, and thanks to my beating the seed heads all over the dirt just before winter, it's all over the place now!

Globe Gilia (Gilia capitata)

I will post some pictures when they begin to bloom, but right now, if you like, you can follow that link to see the ones I uploaded previously. D'Oh! and *Blush*
