I got a heart leaf fern in the mail a couple of weeks ago and it seemed to be adjusting fine in my home.
Today I noticed a bunch of spider webs and a couple of really tiny spiders, so my first suspicion was a spider mite infestation. But after a more thorough examination I found this fella, which is probably the spider mom next to her home? You will need to zoom in a bit...

I am no expert on spiders or plant pests, but I suppose the spiders are doing no harm and could be helping me catch, what looks like white flies?
If this is the case, how would I go about solving the infestation? Should I try to keep the spiders intact? I never had any pests on my ferns, and I've read somewhere on this lovely forum that using oil based insecticides is harmful. I suppose my gentler approach with neem oil treatment would be a bad idea. Any help and suggestions would be so helpful!

What infeststion are you trying to treat? Spiders can be left alone. There is no sign of spider mites that rarely appear on Ferns. Where are you finding whiteflies?

Keep those spiders because they kill the plant pests and eat them. They won't hurt you.

I apologise for the unclear message and my bad resolution photo - the pests in question are the white dots next to the spider, that are caught in the spider web.

If you have white flies, they will flutter up when you gently shake the plant. If you don't want spiders, take your fern outside and wash them off with the hose.

Are you finding them on other leaves? Do they wipe off easily? What texture do they have?
