Hello gardeners! It's my first post here on this forum.
I am from Brazil and my marantea has yellowed leaves and a white liquid. The underside of the leaf, which is pink, is colorless, transparent.

She stays on my balcony and gets a lot of light. However, there is no direct sunlight at any time of day.

Does she need the sun's rays? If anyone can help me I appreciate it.

Hi tistou_brasil, Welcome!

Your Never Never Plant (Stromanthe thalia 'Triostar') is a native to your country of Brazil. Stromanthe thalia is a rainforest plant and requires bright light but no direct sun. The soil should be kept just damp; too much water will cause the underground roots (rhizomes) to rot. Here are a couple of photos from our database (which can be accessed by clicking the blue link above) where you can view additional member photos and find growing information:

I can't see the white liquid you refer to but the curling and drying leaves make me think there's a possible issue with watering. If the soil is heavy and water retentive, it's likely staying too wet at root level which can be a problem.

Hopefully others will be along soon to offer suggestions and advice.

You are very welcome! When I had Stromanthe, it didn't stay alive for very long but that was due to negligence and lack of proper care on my part. I hope your plant improves and thrives for you.

Our Plant Database can be accessed via the gray bar at the top of any page, just click on the gray area that says Plant Database ... it's a wonderful place to get lost looking at and reading about thousands of beautiful and interesting plants! Green Grin!
