Hi there, sadly this large tree is on our mostly unused 4th floor balcony. It was full of weeds (which I just pulled out) and it looks quite dead now. Is it possible to bring this back to life by using plant food or do we simply need to dispose of it at this point?

Thank you in advance from this gardening novice.

Welcome!

Plant food is not medicine, it won't help.

The tree looks dead but do a scratch test to know for sure. Scratch the bark with your finger nail or something hard. If the tissue under the bark is green, the tree is alive. If the tissue under the bark is brown or the bark is too hard to scratch, the tree is dead.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming...."WOW What a Ride!!" -Mark Frost
