Simply said Wild Cherry Wine is just a sweetheart. Not very tall, it looks fine in the front of the border. Does well in our early summer heat, which is usually moderate (for us) around high 80's to low 90's. It is budded up here now and just about to bloom. Wild Cherry Wine is one of my all time favorite daylilies introduced by Bud Bennett. I grow approximately 40 of his intros and it is a tossup for me as which one is my favorite, Wild Cherry Wine or Sitting Cool. Wild Cherry Wine is probably the most photographed daylily I grow. It is a front of the border plant. It is spectacular when more than one bloom is open. In the a.m. it is pink with a darker pink ruffled edge. As the day wears on, it frosts to a very light pink to near white with a pink ruffled edge. I love both looks. I love the white midrib that many of Mr. Bennett's intros have. It is a classic that I never get tired of looking at. One of the best pink diploids that I grow. I plan on hybridizing with it this summer.

I don't grow it but always meant to. I first saw it in the hybridizers own garden and have seen it in numerous gardens around Region 3, where Bud was active in the NCDC( National Capitol Daylily Club.). I have never seen this one NOT looking good!

Often cited as Bud Bennett's best. Certainly his most famous. A quite reliable bloomer. Like many diploids, takes a while to establish.
