I know I am biting off a bit more than I will accomplish at 79, but here goes. I want to make a combination garden of these 2 raised beds on a base of clay and rock (on rocky south facing bluff overrun by honeysuckle bush. Heart dr, says I am cleared to do it. First I have to clear the honeysuckle bush by cutting and painting stubs with Round up using a foam brush. then after leaving the cuttings dry out for a few days I want to make wattle fence to form shape of my new bed and put a chicken wire circle in middle to hold vegetable scraps and to water the bed. then put in gathered branches in a trench about 1 foot deep. then begin putting in alternate layers of dry, green, compost, aged horse manure from a neighbor and finally good garden soil. I will only be growing enough for myself as have no family but want organic food to eat. do you think it will work combining the 2 bed types?

I'm laughing. Today I turned 79 and say Go for it. I mean, it's not as if we have any time to waste.
