I have a close to 35 year old Christian Dior Hybrid red Rose that still alive and blooms. My husband who is never a gardener pruned the branches through the years thinking it will grow more canes or branches. The body left is so dry it looks like driftwood. Is there a chance it will give out branches if pruned at the very low point near the ground? I read it somewhere but not sure if applicable to the condition of my plant
That's what we call a one cane wonder. When they get to this point the graft is usually only alive in that one place and if you cut it off the plant will die out. If anything comes back it will probably be the root stock.
Christian Dior is available in a couple of places here but I do not know if they ship to Guam. If you get a new rose don't let your husband touch it!
