I'd bet it is probably Red-tip Photinia (Photinia x fraseri), but you could help us by taking some additional closeup pictures, AND - tell us where this plant is growing!

Site information is extremely helpful in narrowing the global reach of plant possibilities.

Thanks for the reply. It is in zone 9b (San Jose CA). I can't take a closeup because it's not my picture.

I see that shrub all over the place around here and want to plant it for privacy, and stumbled upon this photo

Ipso facto, take pictures of the ones you see all over the place - since THOSE are in fact what you wish to have.

And you still haven't revealed the location in which you wish to grow this plant.

That kinda tells us you DO know what it is. Where did you get this picture from anyway? Did you google 'red leafed shrub' and decided on the one that best resembles the shrubs in person?

I agree with the above statement: take some detailed photos of the actual shrubs, much easier for us.
