I have a pineapple plant growing by my kitchen window and its getting very large and clumsy and gets in the way and I want to give it a good pruning but I'm not sure if that would kill the plant, my plan is to prune all the sides leaving just the middle growth.

Here is a picture of it.

Depending on the local weather, I would consider moving it outside. Besides, they need full sun.

Pineapple plants do get pretty big - not exactly counter top plants. I just looked it up: 3 - 6 ft wide and high. I doubt pruning will kill it but, pineapple plants aren't long lived anyway. After it grows some new pups, it will die.

I don't have any space for it outside plus it will need to be bought back inside when it starts to get cold again. I decided just to go for it and here is what it looks like right now and my kitchen has a little more light now.
