Hi! My spider plant is a monster. It's really huge. It's lived on this shelf near the window for 2 years where is gets about 2 hours of direct sunlight. I am sure that is why it has grown so large. (Added another image on a side table for scale.)

The leaves bend under their own weight. I am wondering if there is anything that I can do to prevent this.
Also, can or should I prune the bent leaves? Thank You!

Is this spider plant the hawaiian variety. I have one, and it does have big leaves compared to other spiders. I find bent leaves if I let it go too dry. I am sure overwatering would do it also. Your plant does look very happy.

This is probably advice I should just keep to myself, but when my cats were roughhousing and one landed on my plant, flattening a number of the big main leaves, I took a piece of scotch tape to the underside of each leaf, and stuck it right on the underside of the bend. It supported the leaves and they repaired themselves in time. I am sure it is not the best thing to do to leaves, but it did work for me aesthetically. Ok, now let's never speak of this again, and good luck.

Thank you for responding! I don't know what variety it is. It's sister at my office has thin leaves with white along the outside of the leaves. This one exploded and turned all green when I moved it to the window.
There have been times I wasn't watering as often as needed. I'll do better.
Thanks again!

I have this issue too, but only on a few extra large leaves which have appeared on my spider plant recently and they are the only ones that cannot support their weight. This is a healthy plant with otherwise average size leaves and is flowering. Very odd! Any ideas please?
