Thread OP

We just planted our raised herb garden a week ago and are already fighting off pests attacking our basil and cilantro plants. Does anyone recognize either of these pests? One of them I believe is a yellow striped army worm, just not sure what the other is.

So far we've tried an essential oil solution and an Ortho 3-in-1 that was recommended by our local tru-value store.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

They both look like yellow-striped army worms to me. Shrug!

Just thought I'd mention that the Ortho 3-n-1 treatment is most likely killing any beneficial insects that might be there...ladybugs, lacewings, etc.,. FWIW.

For caterpillars use a Bt treatment. Something like this:

Other insects you might want to use an insecticidal soap.

Fungal disease, a copper fungicide.

Best wishes,
